Casey Field Engineer Thriveon

Variety and Activity Throughout the Day

As a IT Field Engineer for Thriveon, Casey Boe has become a familiar face to many customers. IT Field Engineers perform work that needs to be done onsite. It is the job that gets technology professionals like Casey away from their desks and climbing up and down ladders, crawling under desks, and hefting heavy pieces of equipment. Sometimes the task at hand is to set up a new computer workstation or install a firewall. At other times, it could be to set up a network rack or install a wireless access point on a ceiling. Whatever it is, Casey’s day consists of a variety of activities that keep him active both mentally and physically all day long.

Monthly On-site Customer Visits

While every Thriveon customer in Minnesota might not have a new piece of hardware installed each month, Casey and the other Field Engineers make the rounds of each location with ongoing on-site visits. These scheduled visits are part of Thriveon’s proactive approach to IT management. What is important to computer users is information and software because it’s what they need to do their jobs. What is important in an on-site visit is managing the IT environment and doing things that will increase efficiency and prevent downtime for servers and devices.

People Skills Plus Problem Solving

Field Engineers need to enjoy interacting with people and it’s clear that Casey does. His communication skills help him to gauge how people think and work with technology so that he can determine how best to help them. Having a repertoire of technical skills and knowledge is key to being able to troubleshoot issues and make recommendations for best practices. While Field Engineers need to work independently and think on their feet, a quick phone call back to the office connects Casey to colleagues who can consult with him on particularly complex situations.

Working at Thriveon

Casey appreciates the day-to-day variety that comes with his job as well as the opportunities to grow in his profession. At Thriveon, he has had the opportunity to develop his skills in an atmosphere where learning is encouraged, and where management values input from employees. While his previous job in corporate IT was challenging in some ways, it didn’t offer Casey the variety of work that he gets to experience now. At Thriveon, he is never, ever bored.
