If you caught the 10 a.m. news on KEYC TV in Mankato on October 31, you would have learned a little bit of the story behind Thriveon. Journalist Lisa Cownie visited Sam, Steve, Judy and Jake Bloedow at the Thriveon offices in New Ulm to chat about how Sam founded the company at the age of 21 and how it has grown since then.
Sam’s business story began when he was growing up. His mother, Judy, saw he was interested in technology early on. As he disassembled computers and put them back together in the basement of their home, his family didn’t know that they would later see Sam’s passion for technology mix with his strong entrepreneurial tendencies and spark the idea for Thriveon, then known as Connecting Point Technologies.
As the company has grown since Sam founded it in 2002, it has retained the small business feel and emphasis on relationships that have always been important. The company now has about 20 employees and includes four members of the Bloedow family. Judy is now an employee of Thriveon, as is Sam’s brother, Jake, and dad, Steve, who is also part owner.
Thriveon is on an aggressive path for 30% year-over-year growth. As it grows, the company continues its mission to provide companies with strategic business IT support in Mankato, Minneapolis and the greater Minnesota area. Career opportunities will continue to be available for people who want to have a stimulating career in technology along with the southern Minnesota lifestyle.
Sam’s advice to entrepreneurs contains some wisdom that applies to everyone, whether you are growing a company or a career:
“Enjoy the journey. Take one step at a time. Take time to enjoy where you’re at now as you grow.”
